Death. There's death in the air or maybe it's the freaking garbage around her. Mae is in her grasp as the falling bit of rubble hits her. The pain hurts, but she gets back up anyways. Nothing that she can't handle. Alone and on her own, she was brave. She could hold her own against most things. A deep breath as she continues moving through this maze of trash and rubble. A moment is all she takes in of her breath. Blood doesn't come down quickly, so she doesn't try to patch it up yet, not until she finds the others. Rae was watching and she needed to know that it wasn't bad enough to patch right away. She could imagine the small girl gripping the television tensely as she watches her sister move through this. A sigh fall from Fae's lips as she continues walking now. Then there's silence as she walks. It wasn't silent before. Eyes glance around curiously.

The sounds of robotic metal moving catches her ears as she looks to see the pack of dogs running after her. Mae yips as Fae feels the beat of her heart go faster. Feet take her quickly as she holds Mae in one hand and her weapon in the other, fending her sides from the pack passing her. Running she feels herself going into fight or flight mode. Adrenaline rushing through her veins as she runs. Words fall from her lips slowly.

"You're brave, Fae."

The fear was too much to handle. I felt myself linger behind the group. I can only imagine how much of a waste of space I really am trying to run with everyone else while I am the slowest in the bunch. I tried to warn them, but it wasn't enough. I am never going to be good enough...

The thoughts were ever drowning.

My knees hit the ground, scraping against the trash, cutting open a wound or two, but it's nothing compared to the first set of teeth biting deep into my skin. I wail.

"I DON'T WANT TO DIE..." The words hurt becuase they are so truthful yet in the back of my mind, its what I want. Confusion warps my mind as I try to stand only to get yet another set of teeth into my side, daring to tear my side away. "Leave me.. alone!" I fight. A feeling deep inside of me wants me to keep going and so I listen. Despite the teeth repeating their need, I find movement and run.

Hearts race in unison with fear of ultimate survival. Every limb of mine is in strive to ensure all of ours safety, a sensation never felt before - while the others appear too panicked to even noticed such… not that I can even blame them. Somehow, however, the metallic beasts aren’t able to snatch their inanimate teeth upon my own exterior, unable to satisfy their programmed craving. Their yelps grow further into the distance, as if held back by an invisible leash, while the screams of the youngsters don’t fade away as well.

“Relax, Pariah, you ain’t gonna die.” Insensitive assurance coils from my lips, while I resist the urge to shrug them from my needed grip. “Let’s just get the fuck out of here, and then we’ll patch y’all up.” Plans are set with an unknown instinct, while we continue on the venture in hopes of finding the temporary escape from the ongoing threats.
