Name: Dillon Hartman (DJ Red)
Age: 17
Gender: Female
District: District 3
Appearance:
Her bright blue eyes fell upon The Leader of their dance mob as he got into the place. The town square was crowded as all Saturdays are, people enjoying their time and blowing their money raised through out the week, ready to also waste it on a performance. As the tip hat is placed down Dj scurries her skinny & fit body around the corner of a building, out of sight from everyone. She still held a good savings from her last actual job and had still been able to provide herself with healthy foods while concentrating all her time and energy on this dance mob. As for the fit part that was one thing she’d never let her self loose. “One, two, three.” She slowly counted as her small fingers twisted wires every such way until music blasted through out the entire town. “Go.” She whispered to herself though nothing could be heard without a shout, the mob must of started at the exact time.
Stuffing everything back into the electric box Dj toke a minute to herself before having to rush to watch the show. The remix of this song had taken her days to get exactly right, and listening to it now she couldn’t be more proud. Now it was time for the exciting part to see how the dancers interpret it, and how the crowd enjoys it. A rush went through her as she swung her bag over her shoulder and made her way to the crowd of people gathering around the dancers. It was always a breeze to weave through the crowd and push her way to the front for the best view. Everyone always appears the same here in District Three, nice clothing but nothing too fancy, all average looking people. Dj was also like that with a closest filled with nice clothing from the money she earned at a high-rise club. She didn’t tower over the crowd as she stood at the average height of 5’4; people were her size or taller, mainly taller. The only thing that made her different was the bright red hair she was certain she gained from her Mother, but that she’d probably never find out. Her light eyes watched the show as they still scanned around for any trouble.
Personality:
Everyone usually enjoys the dance mob, by the end of each performance they hold a good enough amount of tips for all of them to go to a hole in the wall bar and get some grub while getting a little drunk. If the majority of people didn’t like their occasional out breaks then they wouldn’t be able to afford celebrating afterwards. It was always the best part for Dj to sit around with everyone afterwards, taking array of shots and remembering why they all were a part of a group together. Besides the mutual love for music and dance, they also loved one another. Before this Dj didn’t believe in love, let alone understood it. Now though she knows how to love and loves having a family. These other kids are the first and only ones to ever care about her and to actually gain a side of Dj that didn’t know how to care until now. She does trust them, care for them, and love them unconditionally, even if she doesn’t show it all the time and refuses to let anyone else in.
It was a good thing that Dj was good at multi-tasking because as all of her friends were distracted by making the dance steps in-synced with one another she spotted a small pack of peacekeepers on their way to break up the party. The show couldn’t be stopped like this, and her friends needed some time to make an exit and run in order to not get caught. Usually the peacekeepers actually like the performance, unless in a bad mood like currently. Urgency ran through Dj’s blood, the need to cause trouble but to also protect her friends as well. She dropped from the crowd, snuck behind buildings, and got herself behind the group of peacekeepers making their way to the dance mob. Now to cause some kind of distraction. Another electric box will do just the thing if Dj could figure out a way to cut the music or blow up a few small lights. Time was running short as she scrambled every wire in every such way.
A few lights blew from above her friend’s, not the intention but a good way to warn them of the peacekeepers. Still Dj was work the electric box leaving her with no opportunity to see how her friends reacted. Breaking one more wire the music broke off with a glitch, giving all of them a sign of relief. There was no point in bothering to stuff all the wires back in the box, sure it’ll be a clue to what had happened but nothing to link them to Dj or the others. Now was the time to make sure no more distractions needed to occur before Dj could protect herself. “Damn.” She cursed to herself, the peacekeepers were making it double time to the Dance mob, but at least chaos broke out to block them a bit. Make a run for it and hope the others do to? Or create another distraction to bring the peacekeepers over to her. Without a second though Dj picked up a large rock and chucked it to the nearest shop window. Now was her time to run.
History:
Music blasted from numerous speakers set up through out the giant nightclub; it’s been the most popular since Dj could remember. She could remember the first time sneaking into the club at the tiny age of fourteen, don’t ask how such a young person could manage such a thing, she wasn’t sure herself. Currently though she wasn’t a minor being somewhere she shouldn’t be, but in fact sitting above the entire club in her D.J booth, listening to not just music but her music. The crowd below a drunken mess but not even able to get near her as for a security guard blocking the only entrance to the stairs that lead to her secluded area. Before this she was a lost orphan, creating chaos wherever she went, claiming that it was her genetics from the parents she never even met. Now she was where she belongs, at least that’s how she felt.
“Dj Red welcome.” The owner of the club greeted as Dj toke a seat; it was often that he wanted to talk after a long night of mixing and scratching, but nothing unordinary. “So as you know we’ve started doing background checks for all of our employee, a new standard sent in from the capitol.” No Dj wasn’t aware of that and immediately her throat tightened and palms began to sweat. An overly large file is thrown onto the desk between her and her boss. “I figured I had nothing to worry about with my famous Dj.” His tone definitely shifted. “But I was wrong.” This part his voice was raised and he slammed his hand on top of the stack of paper that explained every little detail of what Dillon Hartman has done; everything from stealing at the age of six to illegally exploring at the age of twelve. “Get out!” He demanded with the use of loud yelling, not only did he discover the largest criminal record on one of his employees, but he was losing his nearly famous Dj.
Without a word Dj slid out of her chair and scurried out the door; there was no way she’d explain herself out of this one and has hard as it was there was nothing else to do. Finally she had discovered something that distracted her from the craving to do bad, and now she had lost it without even putting up a fight. She couldn’t help but punch a few picture frames that decorated the hallway to her former boss’s office, ignoring the pain of tiny pieces of glass slicing her knuckles, she had felt much worse. How was she going to keep away from trouble now, especially with the need to pay for basic necessities? It felt like the end of the world for the young girl who had hardly turned sixteen. Creating music and chaos was the only two things she was good at; and soon after her unemployment she had figured out a way to put her only two talents to some good use.
“Aren’t you Dj Red?” A guy a bit older then Dj asked as she sat on the curb defeated. The capitol had forced a new law upon its citizens on doing a background check before hiring anyone, and now there was no jobs desiring the red head.
“Not anymore.” She gave no enthusiasm in her voice for this visitor, she felt as if there was no point to anything anymore. If possible she was perfectly fine with curling up exactly where she was and falling asleep with hope to never wake up.
“What do you mean? You’re like the best-.” The guy could tell that Dj was not at all interested in hearing how she was an amazing Dj, she probably wouldn’t believe it if anyone tried to tell her so. “Are you hungry?” He asked thinking that going off topic was the best solution. If the famous nightclub wasn’t going to take her he could try and get her himself, after-all his dance mob was in need of a Dj. With a nod of the head she decided to join him, after all she was hungry and money was starting to run low. If someone’s generous enough to offer it, she’d be willing enough to take it. Little did she know that much more then food was offered, but instead a second chance to the only life that DJ knew how to live.
Creating music and chaos was DJ’s to best talents, and she soon found out that there was actually a group that desired both of these odd talents. The Dance Mob who had only recently been started; they needed music to dance to, and a way to blast the music through out where ever they were performing. It toke a matter of days for DJ to become familiar with speakers and how to hack them, bringing her music past just nightclubs. Now her only obligations was going as long as she could without being kicked out of this job because of her horrible past, making sure her horrible past didn’t arise again, and protecting these people until either of the first two things occur.
“Don’t do it Dillon, it’s not worth it.” DJ had to remind herself as she ran off from the shattering glass that had now taken the interests of all the peacekeepers. She could easily create more trouble, steal something or cause a fight that would easily be over-looked with all these people running around like it was the end of the world. Her friends would be waiting for her though, and she couldn’t let them down, this time at least.
