The alarm clock beeps in my ear and I groan, rolling over, searching for the off button. With the button hit, I sit up, rubbing sleep from my eyes before wondering why I set my alarm again. As far as I know Jax is working today and I'm off from my work at the diner. Maybe I just set it so that I could get into a routine of getting up early. Perhaps today I should go down to the beach, go for a swim, or maybe go into town and do some shopping, I am in need of a new swimsuit so perhaps I'll do that. I stand from my bed and pad over to the window, opening it up because I love the smell of the ocean, something I have come to appreciate since we moved closer to the ocean. We used to live on the farthest side of the district from the ocean and I hated it.

After dressing for the day, I head downstairs to see if Mom or dad has a day off and find, to my dissappointment that neither of them is home. I suppose when you're as busy as they are, you don't really get a chance to be at home. I sigh, getting something from the cupboard to eat before grabbing my wallet and heading out of the house for the day. I wonder if I'll run into anyone today.

My guy friends, unfortunately, are busy today. I don't exactly know what they're doing but they're probably getting into trouble as usual. Sighing, I take a deep breath of ocean air and smile, I love this district.

I'm on my way into the centre of town when I bump into someone. "I'm sorry." I say, looking up.

I was a glorious soul. I was victorious. I was noble, and kind. I broke the slate of grim between my mother and father. She was finally dead, death had overtaken her, and I was of course at fault. There was no one I could tell, no one could know! Not yet anyway. One day they would thank me for my brilliant skills of pest control. But for now I wait, I wait and I thirst for my much deserved recognition. 

She was no more then vermin, my fathers mistress. But now her corpse was shrilling down that hopeless saltless stream. I had heard salt was a preserver, I wanted no preserving for her vial face. I wanted her to rot, just like she was doing before my father found hr. Before she decided to ruin my life. Well, no matter anymore, she was no longer here to ruin anything. 

No one saw me, at least I'm sure they hadn't. They couldn't of, could they? No, no, no, they didn't, I wouldn't let them. See, I was safe from everyone, no longer capable of being hurt. I was invincible, I had taken one skanky life, and was willing to take another. The best part was, that didn't scare me.

I was walking rather calm, rather proud, prancing my way back to my vermin free home. When a girl bumped my shoulder. Who was she to touch me? How dare she do such a thing? She had to be put in her place, possibly eliminated...

"The sorry is all mine, perhaps watch your surroundings with more cation?" I say politely, curling the corners of my mouth into a smile.

When I meet the girls gaze, a shiver runs down my spine. I do not know why but something about her isn't quite right and I cannot put a finger on it. "The sorry is all mine, perhaps watch your surroundings with more cation?" she says and the words are innocent enough but something about her rubs me the wrong way. Even her smile doesn't quite seem right. I don't normally feel afraid around people but this seems to be an exception.

"I probably aught to pay more attention. I'm sorry again. I guess I got lost in thoughts." I say, pushing down my nervousness and smiling at the girl. Even though my instincts tell me there is something wrong, I see nothing more than a friendly girl who I have accidentally bumped into. "I'm Ebony, it's nice to meet you." I say, deciding to be polite.
