Meyers Grant
Spring was one of his favorite times of year. Meyers enjoyed being outside listening to the birds sing songs as they danced through the sky. It was an escape for him, but only for a moment because every step he took was a constant reminder of where he lived, and what could possibly happen at any given second, yet Meyers didn't truly care about it. He lived a care free life. One that the rest of the world around him didn't understand. One that involved being himself no matter how close trouble was. Trouble could dance on the tips of his toes, and Meyers wouldn't realize it. It wouldn't bother him at all. Living in fear of something wasn't anything worthwhile.
Today was different though. No birds danced through the sky as dark clouds pregnant with rain spread widely across the horizon. Thunder blasted in every direction. Lightning cracked from the sky lighting the world around him; sometime it struck anything in its path including the ground. Meyers wasn't fond of storms as they took away his chance to run around the district without any worries in the world, but right now he was worried. A storm raged inside the nation of Panem. A small cloud guarded the nation as it grew larger and larger. More and more citizens stepped across the line making life a living hell.
A loud crack of thunder echoed between the buildings, and Meyers stood underneath an old roof praying the storm would go away, yet it kept coming. Growing louder and louder until the water broke sending a massive shower of rain tumbling towards the ground. With his head facing the earth below him, he moved away as quickly as possible. Shaggy brown locks plastered against his face as the rain rapidly picked up. It was a torrential downpour. Turning the corner, his foot slid out from under him sending Meyers crashing towards a large puddle of water quickly forming.
Throwing his arms out to catch himself, he heard a loud crack as the bone snapped in half before ejecting itself from under the skin. Pain surged throughout his entire body as he tried to roll out of the way of the rain. His teeth chattered behind his lips. A cry of pain flew into the air as he ungracefully connected his broken arm against the brick wall. Tears poured down his face, but it was impossible to tell because of the rain flowing from the sky. Maybe someone would find him. Maybe someone would help him.
All he could do was hope.
