Within the core of intuition it feels as though the end is near - while that can never be even a slight guarantee within an atmosphere such as a Maze. And even still, the ending to what? The cusp of just this chapter? The edge to the final hallway all are striving to reach? The conclusion to life itself? Or perhaps it’s actually the beginning - as another cottage breaches into view. This homey abode pertains far more years then the first one had, with a decrepit aroma gently swirled within the mixture of it’s walls. But before the option of entering is given, the gentle growl that had been following all Runners amongst this path swiftly creeps closer. And before consideration and observation can be granted, a vicious beast is upon the scene.

The Big Bad Wolf

Tactic is key. Patience is a virtue. Stealth is a mandatory. But still his stomach growls in the ticking wait. Softly his paws have been stalking closer to his future victims. At a distance his voice howls to the moon regularly, warning the entire Maze on what’s to come. It’s been days in which his snout has been drooling over the prize ahead. And when the sheep are separated, the pristine time finally breaches. With no restraint left he hurdles towards the two Runners, knowing very well they can not outrun him. Fight him? Surely. Kill him? Doubtful. Be his next buffet meal? Probably. At with a gnawing hunger, he aims to strike viciously.

♚ Somehow, Lucy and I had managed to get separated from Pierce and Charlie, which pissed me off quite a bit. Sure, I could take care of myself on my own, and I didn't exactly need help, but things were a lot less entertaining without those two around. Lucy was decently enjoyable to be in the presence of, but it was a lot better with all of us there. Then again, there could only be one victor, meaning all of them would have to die at some point for me to get out alive. The only thing that disappointed me about this separation other than that was the fact that we'd never get to have that foursome that Charlie had suggested.

Regardless, at least there was a chance for me to fight something soon. There were no deaths yesterday, and I knew that I wasn't the only one getting antsy about that fact. Surely the Maze Makers were feeling the same, and it was likely that some of the other runners were as well. Perhaps I could help with that. I certainly wouldn't mind taking someone out for entertainment purposes.

While this was on my mind, however, it didn't exactly happen the way I had planned. It didn't take much wandering about until I heard something coming closer. Weapon in hand, I was ready to fight. That was when I felt an excruciating pain in my hand as I lost yet another finger. I'd already lost two, and I wasn't going to let this rotten dog live after what it did.

"Fuck you, you stupid beast!"

The night crawls closer to each of the puny people before me. While their blood blisters from beneath their skin my senses grow stronger and my stomach grows hungrier. From the heart of hell inside my thick fur a haunting howl rips through the night. My teeth twitch within my mouth as I gain ground on my enemies, on my meal. Overhead the moon of my making shimmers as I plan to send their souls straight to the harkened hell fires below. My claws crease and sharpen, I'll bring them destructive death. I charge.

♚ Despite the fact that the wolf's next attack missed both of us, I knew I had to switch to the other weapon I had in my arsenal. I'd taken a rapier from the boy I killed in the bloodbath, and now I would finally use it. My unicorn horns had killed once, but now they were barely doing any good. It was time to see if my sword skills would be useful. I'd trained back home, after all. Therefore, I should be at least halfway decent.

"Alright, dammit. I know I can't get that finger back, so you should prepare to lose your head."

Teeth and fur and saliva is the most terrifying about this creature. I literally feel my body quaking but as Braylon attacks the creature again, I silently wish to do enough damage to make sure this creature retreats from attacking us any more. The cannon's sounding in the background makes my knees go weak, but I can't just leave Braylon alone. If I want to meet back up with the other two, wherever they are, then I need to end this quickly.

Anger anchors in a dark dangerous grow as each of my severe snaps misses its mark. Clearly the two tiny creatures before me posses at least some kind of agility. No matter, I will end these pitiful people this time around. I see their throats and sense the swimming of the scarlet in their veins, scarlet to be stolen. From my place across the clearing I shake and shudder, not with fear but with ravenous rage, I'll send them each to certain slaughter.

♚ The wolf, luckily, was not doing too much damage to me. Regardless, I still didn't like the fact that it had hit me or Lucy at all. I wanted to rip its head off, but apparently, I wasn't capable of doing that quite yet. I'd have to keep swinging at this thing if I wanted to kill it.

"Lucy, you alright? We need to kill this thing as quickly as possible."

Wolfie needs to die and the sooner the better. I really want to get away from this thing. It's slightly freaking me out but Braylon is so brave swearing at it and just going forward. I'm only trying to keep my own skin safe and Braylon's so that he has a chance as well. The unfamiliar sound of a breaking bone sends my senses haywire as my wrist goes limp, but it doesn't effect my ability to stay on plan. I'll cringe after it falls to the ground.

"My hand hurts." I don't lie. "I'll be okay - just gotta make the wolfie get dead!"

Again the pisky pests are able to hurt me, break through my barrier of flesh. Now pure annoyance drives me towards the intruders to my territory. Although at this point they have proven themselves worthy of my attention, they are not worthy of survival. If these two manage to exist after a meeting with myself, the king of this forest, then there is no hope in keeping my plain power. I bare my fangs before this final strike, they will not escape the death I shall deliver them. I howl. I move to murder.

"What she said," I told it. "Or, in my terms, die bitch!"

Braylon the brave took after me, claiming to want to off the creature. He chuckled after what I had said, but I questioned why. Somehow, I managed to block Wolfie from attacking me, I dodged it, rolling to the side to narrowly miss his claws. I don't want to feel the tab against my arm, but it was Braylon whose body was getting mangled now.

"WOLFIE. GO HOME. BAD DOGGIE!"

Dangerous. The longer this fight with my foes drags on the more dangerous for my existence does it grow. They dare to enter my realm, to break my skin with their man made weapons? I cannot allow them to leave without punishment, to pass through my woods without payment. For centuries I've ruled these wicked woods unchallenged with my name haunting every hovel in the realm. The pigs tried and failed to cease my spree of murders, I cannot now fail to continue my quest. I let out a howl of horror and of a want for war, tonight blood will be buried into the ground. The blood of my enemies.
