Lail Locke
I don't want to change the world
I just wanna leave it colder
Light the fuse and burn it up
Take the path that leads to nowhere
I just wanna leave it colder
Light the fuse and burn it up
Take the path that leads to nowhere
He sat in his office, feet propped on a wooden stool, sipping a cup of coffee while watching the selections for the maze take place. It was his year off. A year to relax after putting time and effort into his wonderful creations. The maze was quite a success although it nearly ended with everyone of those wannabe mazemakers fired for allowing a mere child to win. It was too close for comfort, but Lorenza came through, and that was all Lail could ever ask for.
His sister made for a wonderful partner as they worked together. Many times they would fight and yell at one another, but Layla countered him. She knew what needed to be done at the correct moment. Without her, every single one of the runners would've probably died.
All he heard while roaming the streets was the success of the maze. It had been a wonderful opportunity. Despite the flaws at the beginning with mother hen and her children winning the wealth, to all the foolish kids destroying the grievers like they were nothing, it turned out extremely well. Every got to keep their jobs, and apparently that was well enough for everyone.
Dark eyes glared through the window at the busy streets below. Runners were beginning to arrive, and Lail was oh so excited to see what this years mazemakers had in store. The rumors were echoing through his ears, and maybe it was the fact that their sibling died in the previous maze, whatever the cause, he was certain this maze wouldn't disappoint unless they decided to slip away.
Running his fingers through his scruffy beard, Lail placed the cup back down on the table. His entire attention was focused on the tv plastered against the wall. Tonight he would relax, and not a single person would stop him.
